From April to June 2017, head researcher of MoDe(s) Paula Barreiro López is invited at the École Normale Supérieure by the labex TransferS and Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel (IHMC) to contribute to Artl@s’ activities and to its annual seminar Biennials of the South.
Next Wednesday, April 5th at 7 p.m, Paula Barreiro López will introduce her book Avant-garde Art and Criticism in Francoist Spain at La Central del Museo Reina Sofía, with the participation of Lola Jiménez-Blanco and Julián Díaz Sánchez.
The book Avant-garde Art and Criticism in Francoist Spain by Paula Barreiro López will be presented by the author, along with Miriam Basilio and Juanjo Lahuerta. On March 22nd, at 7 pm, in the Auditorium of MACBA’s Convent del Àngels.
Paula Barreiro López’s book Avant-garde Art and Criticism in Francoist Spain (Liverpool University Press) is a contribution to the history of Spanish art in the twentieth century. It surveys the shifts in the aesthetic discourse and artistic practices that decisively influenced the shaping of the avant-garde during Franco’s dictatorship (1939-1975).
Paula Barreiro López’s conference “Une guérilla des choses ? Objet, subversion et anti-impérialisme quand le fond de l´air était rouge” will take place in the seminar Arts et Sociétés, directed by Laurence Bertrand Dorléac at the Centre d’Histoire de Sciences Po, Wednesday 26 October 26th.
Until August 15, 2016, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid presents an important exhibition of Wifredo Lam (Sagua La Grande, 1902 – Paris, 1982), covering multiple aspects of the trajectory of the Cuban artist. The exhibition catalogue includes an essay by Paula Barreiro López.
