PRISME

PRISME. La critique d’art, prisme des enjeux de la société contemporaine (1948-2003)

This multidisciplinary research program considers art criticism – beyond the mere aesthetic discourse – as a dynamic field of current debates in society. This vast research is based on the archives of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), preserving the chronology (1948-2003), geography and themes of AICA Congresses and General Assemblies as a central matrix. The aim of the program is to shed light on the current situation of art criticism by constructing a transversal and transnational history of art criticism in its sociopolitical, cultural, media and scientific aspects. With the support of the Fondation de France, the University of Rennes 2 and the Region of Bretagne, the program is connected to the GIS “Archives de la critique d’art”, to the EA 1279 “Histoire et critique des arts” and integrated by the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme of the Region of Bretagne in the framework of the “Arts et création” cluster.
