Emmanuelle Lafrance

Ph.D. student in Art History at the Université de Toulouse Jean Jaurès 2 (under the supervision of Paula Barreiro-López) and the Université de Montréal (under the supervision of Analays Álvarez Hernandez). Her research focuses on artists and curators of Latin American origin, particularly those living in Montreal and Bordeaux since the 1990s and who regularly collaborate with art organizations created by artists from the Latin American diaspora.

She worked as a research assistant for Analays Álvarez Hernandez in 2022/2023, regarding the exhibitions and residencies of Latin American and Latinx-Canadian artists that have taken place in Montreal over the past 20 years.

She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Hispanic Studies from the Université de Montréal. She completed her Master’s studies at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Quito, Ecuador) as part of the graduate program in Latin American Studies, focusing on Andean ritual dances. In this context, she published an article on an Andean dance entitled La danza-ritual de la Diablada como práctica de resistencia en la época colonial andina.
