Between 1969 and 1979, the publishing house Alberto Corazón Editor published an extensive catalogue of books organized into five collections: Comunicación Series A, B, C and D/D, and the Visor Poetry Collection. Equipo Comunicación was also the name of a collective of intellectuals that succeeded in energizing the cultural life of the final years of Francoism and the democratic transition through intense editorial activity, as well as through seminars and texts published in various media outlets. The founding core consisted of Valeriano Bozal, Alberto Corazón, Alberto Méndez, Juan Antonio Méndez, and Miguel García Sánchez, joined by Ludolfo Paramio, Leopoldo Lovelace, Miguel Ángel Bilbatúa, Herminia Bevia, and Carlos Piera, among others. From anti-Francoist positions and with a strong political commitment, Comunicación brought into circulation more than one hundred books by national and international authors. These works—covering Marxism, language theory, semiotics, philosophy, architecture, art history, cinema, theatre, and literature—provided materials that enriched political and cultural debates and contributed to the opening of spaces of freedom during the country’s democratization process. This volume brings together fifteen studies with the aim of recovering, examining, and contextualizing the activity of Equipo Comunicación.
