International Seminar
Visual spaces as constellation: images and imaginaries of violence in Latin America
26 November 2021, 17.00 – 20.30
Facultad de Geografía e Historia, Universidad de Barcelona
In the analysis and construction of images and imaginaries of violence, there is a range of possibilities for discussion that go from aesthetic to moral aspects regarding the gaze on the pain of others or the strategies used by artists in the creation of works. The image not only serves as a trace of a space-time but also behaves as a dialectical trigger with respect to everything that has had to happen for the image to occur.
This seminar proposes to trace and discuss a critical cartography of the artistic practices and visual artifacts that have dealt with and visualized political violence in Latin America since the second half of the 20th century.
