Publication of REG|AC issue on Cold War networks and circulations: Cross-cultural Dialogues and Practices throughout the Global South (1957-1991)

The latest issue of REG|AC, Journal of Global Studies & Contemporary Art, entitled Networks and Circulations in the Cold War: Intercultural Dialogues and Practices in the Global South (1957-1991), is now available.
Edited by Paula Barreiro López and Juliane Debeusscher, this monographic issue maps some of the cultural networks of the Cold War (1957-1991) developed through, or in contact with, the transantlantic south and the Pacific.

Through different perspectives and methodological approaches, the selected articles draw a differentiated and decentralized cartography of these relations. They deal with issues such as the representation of conflicts in the global south (Malvinas and Central America) by artists from the north, the internationalisation strategies of controversial “peripheral” institutions, the relationship between the diffusion of conceptualism in Europe and Latin America and air transport, art magazines as tools for international exchange and/or (counter)propaganda, the diplomatic role of American design in Vietnam, the circulation of images of child combatants of the Salvadoran guerrilla, exchanges between Brazil and Germany through the Ulm school, or the cosmopolitan exchange networks between Buenos Aires and Paris.

It includes contributions by Gabriela Aceves, Ornela Barisone, Clare Carolin, Katarzyna Cytlak, Neus Moyano, Pablo Santa Olalla, Giulia Lamoni, Christian Padilla, Laura Ramírez Palacio and Jennifer Way.
